PEM® brand miniature fasteners fit into a minimal space and provide strong, reusable threads.
Types FE, FEO and UL are self-locking. Types FE and FEO thread locking torque performance is equivalent to applicable NASM25027 specifications. Type UL self-locking nuts meet locking torque requirements specified herein. Some sizes of FE, FEO, and UL can be ordered to NASM45938/7 specifications. Types FEX, FEOX and U have free-running class 2B/6H threads.
PEM miniature fasteners provide immediate visual indication when proper installation has been accomplished.
A strong, knurled collar, which is completely embedded in the sheet, guarantees against rotation of the fastener in the sheet. The torque-out resistance of the knurl greatly exceeds the torque that can be exerted by the selflocking feature.
When this collar is embedded in the sheet, the undercut cavity beneath the collar is filled with displaced sheet material thereby developing pushout resistance.
A dry-film lubricant applied to these fasteners provides the smooth, non-galling prevailing torque performance
necessary for reliable locking and for reusability.FE.jpg
PEM® PEMFLEX® self-locking, self-clinching fasteners retain their repeated use and effective prevailing locking torque.
Shoulder provides increased performance.
Flexing action permits repeated use and effective locking torque.
Flange provides positive stop during installation.
The thread locking performance of Types LK, LKA, and LKS PEMHEX self-clinching fasteners (with MD finish) is equivalent to applicable NASM25027 specifications. The self-clinching feature is the same tried and proven design preferred and appreciated for fast, simple assembly. These fasteners do not protrude through the reverse side of the sheet and provide positive, permanent attachment with high torque-out (many times greater than locking torque) and pushout resistances.
PEM all-metal, self-locking fasteners are available in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Types LK (steel) and LKS (stainless) are treated with a black dry film lubricant for better locking performance. Type LKA (aluminum) must be used with a lubricated screw. The PEM design utilizes two rugged, semicircular flexing jaws instead of several less-supported segments. The greater ruggedness and retention of this PEMFLEX action prevents relaxation and loosening of the fastener in severe service.
This PEMFLEX design also protects the screw threads. Clearances obtained by only two interruptions of a full circumference, together with the spreading of the jaws by the entering screw, minimize the possibility of thread damage.LK.jpg
Type SL self-locking nuts are designed with a unique and economical TRI-DENT® locking feature, which meets demanding locking performance requirements.
3 cycle locking performance. Achieved using steel socket head cap screws, 180 ksi / property class 12.9 with standard finish of thermal oxide and light oil.
Recommended for use in sheets HRB (Rockwell “B” scale) 80 or less and HB (Hardness Brinell) 150 or less.
